Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez is a popular Mexican-American actor, singer and music producer. Her family was home-schooled by her mother in the USA. Her childhood was filled with racist insults, she was being made to feel unwelcome. It was in her ninth grade when she began to gain confidence after receiving a rousing ovation in an audition. The experience not only helped to boost her confidence, but also changed the direction she was heading in her life. The 22-year-old graduated with a degree from Julliard School in New York. At the age of 23, her first Broadway appearance in Paul Simon's The Capeman, and her debut film, You've Got Mail were both major breakthroughs. Her greatest break came in the role of The Lady of The Lake, in the original Broadway production of Spamalot. She won the Tony Award and received great praise for the role. The following year, she appeared as Callie Torres on Grey's Anatomy for ABC, she gained greater fame. Known as a singer she released her own single and an extended play. In addition, she's a campaigner and has been active for LGBT rights.
